What this page practices

Read analog clocks and write the time.

2.MD.C.7: Tell and write time to the nearest five minutes.

Practice supports the cited skill; the worksheet does not cover every aspect of the full standard. Read the source standard.

A useful way to practice

  1. Read the shorter hour hand first. Check how far it has moved toward the next hour, then count the minute-hand intervals.
  2. Ask the learner to explain one answer in words or with a drawing. Use the answer key to discuss the method as well as the result.
  3. Print at 100% scale and check that the paper size matches the PDF.

How do I make telling time worksheets for Grade 2?

The Grade 2 preset uses five-minute intervals. You can choose whole, half or quarter hours, or switch to drawing the clock hands. The hour hand moves between hour marks.
